You do need to be connected to the net to register, but you may be able to get your authorizations through emails to another computer, but I'm not 100% sure. That's a great option for people who want more focus on Drum and Guitar sounds, or have the expansion tanks. You'd have to contact eSoundz to do that. Squids also mentioned that if you want, you can trade out the Expansion Tanks for the complete Sonik Capsules set. BTW, if you want the Sampletank sounds, you can get ahold of eSoundz, and they will hook you up with the Sampletank sounds. This gives you the Sampletank 2.5 engine with Sonik Synth 2's sound set, plus the extra goodies, all running as one huge library.
Personally, I think SS2's sounds are a bit better overall than the sound included with Sampletank. The bonus disk includes quite a few Philharmonik sounds and world sounds that were included with the World Soundz GB they ran a couple years ago. There are some really nice Piano's in the Piano expansion tank, and the Symphony Strings set is great, too.
No doubt!! The Expansion Tanks and special bonus sounds are a terrific extra sweetener, too. Getting all that for $199.00 would be a sweet Christmas present for myself
